Worth the Wait

When I got divorced I never thought I would fall in love with someone again, but it happened sooner than I wanted. Love from a distance, without exchanging words, that’s how I started to feel attracted to a stranger.

He was stoic and reserved with an attitude of pride that attracted me more to him. After spending several months longing that at least he looked at me, one day while sipping coffee in a bakery he asked permission to sit next to me, I felt nervous and turned the coffee on the table, which to my surprise sparked a long and spirited conversation.

After a couple of hours laughing and exchanging more serious issues, we realized that we were right for each other. Who does not believe in love at first sight? I did not believe in it, but after mature dating him for some time my world changed completely.

Not the upgrade we expected

After much consideration, it was decided that my husband and I would switch from a full size bed to a king size bed, just for the sheer luxury of having more room to stretch out and snooze. Around here, king size beds have become quite the norm for couples who prefer plenty of sleeping space and comfort during slumber. It was time to join the club. After our first day in our new bed, it was decided that a few more warm bodies in our big, new bed would be a great idea. Instead of pushing the cat off the bed every night or reprimanding the dog to return to his own bed, we opted to share. What we’ve realized is that our king size bed now has just as much precious space as our full size bed after the introduction of a 150 pound bull mastiff and a well-fed house cat. Looks like we did not upgrade after all.

Not on my Watch!

My husband and I recently married, and have been talking about possibly trying to have a baby. My parents were never very happy about our marriage, and have skirted around the subject of grandchildren every time I brought it up. Because we moved far away, almost immediately upon marriage, we had not seen my family in quite some time. It was nice, there was no awkward moments, no family conflict.

In the fall, my family had planned a road trip in order to see my husband and I, who live on the east coast. The plan was to meet up half way, in order to spare the expense of driving across country. Upon meeting up, my father had informed me that he had purchased rooms for both my husband and I, as well as my family. While my mother, father, and boths sisters stayed in a room with a huge king size bed, we walked into our hotel room to find two double beds, their last ditch effort to make their point about us having children!

Family Pictures

Recently my son Evan turned 2, so my husband Jim and I decided to hire someone professional to take some great family pictures. We found a wonderful lady who came recommended by several friends, and after setting up an appointment I worked on getting our outfits together. I ended up color coordinating our outfits in blue and white, which I thought would really pop in front of the camera. We met the Antwerpen fotograaf at a historic park downtown in our city, so she could get some very natural, spontaneous shots of us. We were all a little self-conscious at first but soon we loosened up and had a great time! The camera just kept clicking and after an hour or so she said we were done. Later she sent us a CD and several prints from the shoot. It was a great experience and we now have memories to treasure.

Entering the New World

When I was younger, we used to complain about how hot is would get during the summer. Then we would go crazy turning up the portable fans as high as they would go! Luckily, we do not live in the twelfth century any more. Our new family home is modern and it has a working air conditioning Manchester unit! I know that today this is not a big deal. However, in Europe, many people do not have an AC unit. They suffer through the heat as they have done for decades! I do not know how those people do it! I am dying if it is over seventy degrees outside! I am so glad we live in a country that has an AC unit in each house! I do not know how people in the past put up with it. America is seriously the most modern and convenient place to live in the world!
